Dengue Surveillance in Réunion. Update as of March 16, 2021

Key points

  • A trend toward the spread of cases is observed, with 21 municipalities affected, as well as an acceleration in viral circulation.

  • Viral circulation in the municipality of Le Port is intensifying and affecting the municipalities of Saint-Paul and La Possession. Clusters of cases have also been identified in the municipalities of Saint-Joseph, Etang-Salé, Le Tampon (south), and Saint-Denis (north).

  • Furthermore, given the difficulty in interpreting isolated serological results in a context where dengue has been circulating in the region for several years now, PCR remains the preferred diagnostic method.
