Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of November 18, 2011.
News
During the long weekend of November 11, increases in the total number of emergency room visits, as well as in the number of visits by children under 1 year of age, were observed in the departments of Gard, Hérault, and Pyrénées-Orientales. The indicators returned to baseline levels for the remainder of the week.
Monitoring of seasonal epidemics:
bronchiolitis: the outbreak continues in France, though it has not yet begun in the region;
influenza: the number of diagnosed cases, both in France and at the regional level, remains low, regardless of the data source,
gastroenteritis: in Languedoc-Roussillon, the national threshold defined by Inserm’s Sentinelle network was exceeded for week 45, but this slight increase does not confirm the start of the seasonal outbreak, given data from other regional surveillance systems.
