Acute Respiratory Infections and Gastroenteritis in Occitanie. Bulletin of March 6, 2025.
Key Points
Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI)
In Week 09, activity related to acute respiratory infections across all age groups continued to decline in primary care and hospitals.
A very large proportion of ARI activity was linked to consultations for influenza viruses, but this proportion continued to decline (45% at SOS Médecins and 30% in emergency departments).
Influenza and influenza-like illness
In Week 09, the Occitanie region was in its 12th epidemic week. Indicators had been declining in both community practice and hospitals since a peak in activity in Week 04. However, indicator levels remained high across all age groups.
Nationally, three regions in France fell below the epidemic threshold. A decrease in indicators across all age groups was observed, both in community settings and in hospitals. In week 09, influenza activity returned to low levels for the first time since the beginning of 2025.
Gastroenteritis and Acute Diarrhea
In the Occitanie region, an upward trend has been observed in recent weeks in the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice and in emergency department visits (a trend more noticeable among adults).
