Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of November 5, 2015.

Mortality: The number of deaths recorded in week 43 is relatively stable compared to the previous week; it is above expected levels but below the alert thresholds.

Emergency room visits among vulnerable populations: An increase in emergency room visits for people aged 75 and older, with activity above the alert threshold. Activity for children under 1 year of age is slightly above expected levels.

Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance in Gironde and Lot-et-GaronneSince May 1, 133 suspected cases have been reported, including 5 confirmed imported cases of dengue and 4 confirmed imported cases of chikungunya. In total, as of October 30, in the 22 metropolitan departments subject to enhanced surveillance, 106 imported cases of dengue and 28 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. Six locally acquired cases of dengue have been confirmed in Nîmes (Languedoc-Roussillon region).

Notifiable Diseases (ND)No unusual situations have been observed since October 1, 2015.

Carbon monoxide poisoningSince September 1, 2015, five incidents have been reported in Aquitaine, including three in S43. One mass incident involved more than a hundred people, none of whom required transfer to the emergency room.

Acute Gastroenteritis (AG) In Aquitaine, activity is stable, below expected seasonal levels. In France, activity is stable or declining.

InfluenzaActivity remains low with a few sporadic cases of influenza in mainland France. Surveillance of severe influenza cases admitted to intensive care began on November 1

Bronchiolitis: A sharp increase in the number of emergency room visits and a rise in the proportion of bronchiolitis cases reported by SOS Médecins, with activity nearing alert thresholds and exceeding levels from the previous two years. AquiRespi treated 55 children. Nationally, an increase in activity at emergency rooms and through SOS Médecins is observed, primarily in the Île-de-France region and the North.

Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitisTwo reports of enterovirus meningitis and 1 case according to the Oscour® network. Among the 24 positive respiratory virus tests, 15 were rhinoviruses and 7 were RSV.

Mushroom poisoning (indicator not detailed in the body of the document)Since June 29, 2015, 113 cases according to CAPTV and 47 cases according to Oscour® (1,225 and 532 in France) (data to be consolidated). One severe case reported in Aquitaine.
