New Format for Point Epidémio

The arrival of spring marks the end of surveillance for seasonal winter epidemics. This year, the season was characterized by a late, moderate-intensity flu epidemic, dominated by the A(H3N2) virus, and a high number of clustered cases of acute respiratory infections in nursing homes. Furthermore, in the Aquitaine region, the bronchiolitis outbreak was more severe than in the previous season, with a more pronounced peak at the end of the year.

Starting this week, Cire Aquitaine is therefore offering its new version of the Point Epidémio with the following sections:

  • Allergy Surveillance

  • Asthma surveillance

  • Gastroenteritis surveillance

  • Reportable diseases, with a focus on the measles outbreak

  • Private practice and emergency hospital activity

Trends in indicators for the week of April 30, 2012, to May 6, 2012

  • Allergies: moderate activity

  • Asthma: moderate activity

  • Gastroenteritis: moderate activity

  • Private practice and hospital emergency activity: stable for SOS Médecins Côte Basque and Pau, and slightly increased in emergency departments
