Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of July 23, 2015.
Mortality: The number of deaths recorded during the first two weeks of July remains within expected ranges. The number of deaths observed during week 28 remains comparable to that of the previous week.
Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations: According to available data, emergency room activity for those aged 75 and older is in line with expectations. Emergency room activity for children under 1 year of age remains close to the alert threshold.
Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance in Gironde and Lot-et-GaronneSince May 1, 47 suspected cases have been reported. Among them, 1 imported case of dengue and 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. In total, as of July 17, in the 20 metropolitan departments subject to enhanced surveillance, 331 suspected cases have been reported. Among them, 29 imported cases of dengue and 11 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed. There are no locally acquired cases.

Acute Gastroenteritis (AG) Moderate and stable activity in Aquitaine.
Asthma and allergiesIn Aquitaine, consultations for asthma and allergies are declining according to Oscour® and SOS Médecins. Forecast for this week: low to moderate pollen allergy risk for grass pollen in the region.
Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitisHigh number of enterovirus meningitis cases (7 virology reports from the University Hospital and 9 from Oscour®), consistent with national trends.
ChickenpoxIn Aquitaine, chickenpox activity is in line with expected levels for this time of year.
Heat-related illnessesIn Aquitaine, the decline that began in week 28 of 2015 continues, with heat-related cases accounting for 0.9% of total SOS Médecins activity and 0.7% of total Oscour® network activity in week 29 of 2015. No heat wave is forecast by Météo France as of July 23, 2015.
