Surveillance of bronchiolitis in the Normandy region. Update as of November 24, 2016.

Key Points

Monitoring of regional indicators, primarily those from emergency departments, shows that activity related to bronchiolitis in infants continued to increase in week 2016-46, following trends observed at the national level. As a result, Normandy is now in the pre-epidemic phase. As observed during the previous winter season, the epidemic is spreading across the region along an east-west geographic gradient, with Upper Normandy currently appearing to be more affected than Lower Normandy. Analysis of virological data reported by hospital laboratories confirms this trend. Based on observations from previous winter seasons, we can expect the increase in bronchiolitis-related activity to continue over the coming weeks and to soon be observed in Lower Normandy.
