Health Surveillance in Hauts-de-France. Bulletin of August 28, 2025.

Key Points

Asthma at the Start of the School Year

  • In week 34 (August 18–24, 2025), the number of emergency room visits and house calls by SOS Médecins for asthma, across all age groups, remained stable and comparable to previous years during the same period. This same trend was also observed among children under 15. Hospitalizations following emergency room visits for asthma were decreasing in week 34, across all age groups and among those under 15.

  • Although the situation observed at the end of August is stable, there is concern that the need for asthma care will increase in the coming weeks, particularly among children, as schools reopen and community activities resume.

Measles

  • Since early January 2025, active circulation of the measles virus has been observed in France and in the region, primarily in the Nord department. Nationally, the three age groups most affected are children aged 1–4 (15%), adults aged 40 and older (13%), and children aged 10–14 (12%).
