Epidemiological Situation of Dengue in French Guiana. Update as of August 31, 2023.

Key Points

In weeks 33 and 34, 144 confirmed cases of dengue were identified across several municipalities, compared to 169 during the previous two weeks. More than 65% of cases were in the Savanes region, mainly in Kourou, where the virus continues to circulate widely: the outbreak is ongoing in the Savanes region. A slight downward trend in cases was observed in week 34, but this will need to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Visits to the emergency department for dengue-like symptoms still account for nearly 10% of emergency department activity at CHK.
The situation is stable in the other sectors. Active outbreaks have been identified in Saint Laurent du Maroni, Cayenne, Rémire-Montjoly, Grand-Santi, and Matoury.
