Dengue in French Guiana. Update as of February 29, 2024.

Summary

Dengue virus circulation has been declining across the territory for the past two weeks but remains at a very high level in S08, particularly on the island of Cayenne and in the Oyapock area. This decline should be interpreted with caution, given that the holiday season may have contributed to it due to reduced use of healthcare services and testing.

This trend needs to be confirmed in the coming weeks. The DEN-2 and DEN-3 serotypes are circulating in nearly equal proportions.

Since January 2023, 14,582 clinically suspected dengue cases, seen in general practice or at health centers (CDPS), and 8,437 confirmed cases have been recorded, including 7,665 and 5,636, respectively, in 2024.
Since January 2024, 137 people have been hospitalized at the CHC; data is currently being consolidated at the CHK and CHOG (more information on page 4).
