How can health education be implemented in primary care or pharmacy practice? Methods for conducting a pilot study involving pregnant women, adolescents, or older adults.
Under the leadership of INPES and CNAMTS, five health education programs were designed and piloted by 61 general practitioners and pharmacists at five pilot sites in France, involving 185 participants, including older adults, adolescents, and pregnant women. The development of these programs required a year-long structured training program for healthcare professionals. The educational interventions developed meet the criteria for health education: a comprehensive and personalized approach to the patient, and active participation in the learning process. The educational approaches are not centered on a thematic health approach, but on the individual as a member of a population group. This constitutes a population-based approach to health education.
